You will be asked to fill out a brief intake form. Included are important questions about your health history, recent injuries, stress level, body aches and pains, and so forth. I need to know if you are taking any medications and if you have any contraindicated conditions. We will have a short consultation to determine: the type of treatment you are looking for, what you hope to achieve with the massage session, past massage experiences, and what brought you to contact me (such as stress, back problems, headaches, anxiety, TMJ, digestive problems, stiff joints, pregnancy, recent injury, "everyone I know gets massage"...etc.).
Before the session begins you will have a chance to point out any concerns you may have such as: You don't want your hair messed up, get cold easily, don't like deep tissue massage, don't want any work done on your face, and so on. I will listen and respect your wishes!
All of the treatments are done on a comfortable massage table. Your massage table is cleaned and changed with fresh linens (sheets, towels, face cradle cover, blankets). I will leave you alone in the room so that you can undress to your comfort level. You will always be covered with a sheet or towel and your privacy will be respected.
Feel free at anytime to express yourself during the session in regard to pressure, temperature, pain level, etc.
After your massage you may feel calm and experience less pain. Some people feel energized and refreshed. This is all normal. Be sure to drink plenty of water and get a good night's sleep to prolong the positive effects of your massage.
